2010 Transforming School Counseling Leadership Institute

Description: In this two-day institute, participants will learn how to use an "Equity Audit" to uncover policies and practices that inhibit academic achievement for low-income and minority students. Attendees will analyze their school’s master schedule and student transcripts to discover any opportunity gaps between student groups.
Learn how to develop data-driven action plans to (1) prioritize school-counseling program activities based upon local school-improvement goals and (2) change specific policies or practices to help the school better meet student needs. Special attention will be paid to the needs of ELL and special education students. Participants will leave the training confident in their ability to develop a school-counseling program that addresses the question: How does the school counselor help ensure that all students graduate ready for success in both college and a career?
