Description: This Reading Institute is a key part of the Department's strategy to support the efforts of schools that receive federal funding to improve literacy instruction and to assist State and local policymakers and program administrators to develop effective, comprehensive pre-kindergarten to third grade literacy programs.
This year, ED will collaborate with the National Institute for Literacy (NIFL) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to convene a separate strand at the 2010 Reading Institute entitled, "Learning and Development: Birth to Third Grade." This strand will share knowledge and information about literacy research and how to use that research in practice.
Teachers, coaches, principals, and State and District Administrators are welcome to attend this important event. There is no registration fee.
