Author: Yonezawa, S. et al

Summary or Abstract: A review of the research on school climate suggests that attention to school culture and personalization matters tremendously in the school, to the students and at the teacher-community level. This paper lists findings concerning efforts to improve schools by addressing elements of the "culture of the school," including educators' beliefs, values and attitudes; providing safe, well-maintained school environments; student-teacher interactions, and professional learning communities for teachers, among others. The authors conclude with policy recommendations to accomplish these desired practices.
