Summary or Abstract: School-community partnerships are common in schools that are closing the achievement gap. Such partnerships engage families, other community members, community leaders, and a wide variety of local businesses, agencies, institutions, and non-profit organizations. This paper looks at the broad range of school-community partnership strategies employed by successful schools, and examines the research evidence on the effectiveness of school-community partnerships in closing the achievement gap.
