Summary or Abstract: Projections indicate that, within the next 30 years, minority people will constitute over one-third of the U.S. population. This demographic shift makes it essential that minority groups obtain the educational credentials, skill sets, and knowledge needed to work productively in a rapidly changing economy. One way to support and guarantee the necessary increase of skilled personnel in the American workforce is to encourage and enable a greater number of African American and other minority students to successfully enter and complete postsecondary education and training. This paper makes recommendations for fostering positive school relationships to lead to the success of African American students.
